A teacher and four students from Soochow’s School of Big Data Management won top honor in the 2018 Highway Public Transport Planning Competition held by Directorate General of Highways. The SCU team defeated all other teams with their project “Yilan Regional Tourism and Mass Transportation Integration Platform Design—Environmental Travelling Monopoly Game, and won the championship along with the prize of 200,000 TWD.

On September 13th , 2018, SCU President Wei-Ta Pan signed an agreement memo for overseas paid internship projects with Zheng-Hong Li (李政宏), president of Shanghai Taiwan Compatriot Investment Enterprise Association (SHTA) (上海市臺灣同胞投資企業協會) at Waishuangshi Campus.

On April 11th at a ceremony in Taipei 101, German Institute Taipei awarded Dr. Bau-Tscheng Dung, vice president of Soochow University, with the German-Taiwanese Friendship Medal for his outstanding contribution in cementing German-Taiwanese relations.

Hosted by Soochow’s Department of English Language and Literature, the annual “U12 Consortium Universities Translation and Interpreting Contest” attracted nearly 70 contestants from 10 universities this year to an exciting competition at Pu-Ren Hall on April 12th, 2018.

Four students selected from Soochow University Model United Nations (SCUMUN) Club gained valuable experiences as they participated in the 2018 National Model United Nations (NMUN), held in New York from March 25th to 29th. This is an annual conference gathering college student representatives, or the so-called MUNers, from all over the world who would strive to take the floor, speak up for their assigned countries, and share their opinions on local and global issues.
