Soochow University recently celebrated its 126th Anniversary. The Office of International and Cross-Strait Academic Exchange (ICAE) led exchange students from various countries to participate in the grand anniversary parade at the Waishuanghsi Campus. This event not only allowed the students to experience the unique atmosphere of a Taiwanese campus celebration but also served as a heartfelt tribute to Soochow University on its special milestone
Following the parade, the ICAE volunteers—who worked tirelessly to plan this event—hosted the ‘Monopoly – Travel World Tour’ activity.
The exchange students were divided into teams based on colors they drew, starting the competition with equal funds. The custom-designed game board featured different countries on every tile, each paired with trivia regarding local culture and general knowledge. Teams had to discuss and answer questions within a time limit to advance and manage their resources. This interactive mechanism successfully combined education with entertainment, broadening the participants’ global horizons.
The game incorporated situational designs that encouraged cross-team interaction and cooperation. Students navigated competition and risk-taking, which significantly enhanced their engagement and sense of immersion. Through real-time discussion and splitting the work, each team strategically managed their funds to maximize their gains within the time limit.
At the conclusion of the game, teams were ranked by their total accumulated capital, and the winners were honored during an award ceremony. The ICAE volunteers carefully selected special prizes.
The joy on the students’ faces as they received their gifts added a touching finishing touch to the event. Finally, the celebration concluded perfectly with a joyful group photo, leaving everyone with precious memories of Soochow’s 126th anniversary.
