Cross-cultural Celebration Ceremony and Experience of Taiwanese Culture

Soochow University's 123rd Anniversary Celebration Ceremony started enthusiastically on March 18, 2023 at the Waishuanghsi Campus. Office of International and Cross-Strait Academic Exchange of Soochow University led exchange students from all over the world to participate the event, and showed the friendliness and diversify of Soochow University with the slogan "Soochow International GO, be friend with the World".

“This is my first time to participate in the event like this. Compared to the previous experience in Japan, I think that the event in Taiwan is very crowded and fun,” said Akiho Umegane Yangbu, an exchange student from Japan.

Waving the flags of their countries, students talked to each other in serveral languages and all immersed in the joyful atmosphere of the anniversary ceremony.

In addition,ICAE also took the exchange students to Dadaocheng after the celebration. They not only visited the historical buildings and temples in Taiwan, but also tasted the traditional snacks.

“I like the historical buildings and food spots we visited on the tour. It is nice to always have someone to explain and help. Most importantly, I am able to meet some new people and learn more about Taiwan through this tour,” said Tim, an exchange student from Germany.

Through the little trip, exchange students created unforgettable memories by wandering through the ancient streets and alleys learn about Taiwan's traditional culture and experience it in person.
