SU Student Clubs Perform, Share Joy with Community Residents

On December 1st, 2019, seventeen SCU student clubs gave performance for the local community charity show at Shilin Official Residence. In cooperation with the Residence’s Chrysanthemum Exhibition, Soochow’s United Board (UB) Campus and Community Services Learning Program organized this event which aimed to serve and bring fun to local citizens.

The 10 participating clubs with dynamic shows and demos included Goodwill Folk Jazz Dance Troupe, Guitar Club, Chinese Orchestra Club, Musical Performance Club, etc., which bonded with local residents through music, dance, drama, as well as interactive games and lotteries. Other 7 clubs, including Student Housing Center, Chinese Medicine Club, Coffee-Lover Club, and Numerology Club, set up booths or stalls selling products or services while introducing to visitors what these Soochow student clubs do.

The SCU students not only showed their passion and energy but also demonstrated their serving spirit through this charity event. In the process, they increased the cohesion among the clubs and improved public recognition for Soochow University.

Nearly all the residents answering the event survey gave highly positive feedbacks and praises to the clubs and students. And the UB community services learning program welcomed more students to join force next year.
